The Eternal Feminine: The Trial 2020

In the model of a court trial, The Eternal Feminine: The Trial (2020) is set around musical works referring to female archetypes such as Carmen, the Virgin Mary, Marguerite in Faust, the Valkyries, Scheherazade and many others. Before the bench, the voice of Isabelle Meyer’s violin will face the charges of Suzette Sandoz in the role of the prosecutor, while Charles Poncet as lawyer for the defence pleads for the acquittal of the Eternal Feminine, using parallels with trials of our time that have made an impact on public opinion and the media. Following The Eternal Feminine: The Trial of 2018, the legal-musical production returns as a high point of the 2020 Art-en-Ciel season, addressed in particular at the younger generation with a judicial look at salient female models in literature and popular television series.
