Mozart & the Paradox of the Stars

Creation of the Cosmos & Artistic Creation

Look around you! A multitude of colours, textures, materials, objects and living creatures. This variety is due nonetheless to the manner in which a small number of elementary particles are organised. Music is similar, seven notes are enough to create all the symphonies in the world. By putting notes into order with respect to time, Mozart created an emotionally engaging abstract language. By allowing matter to organise itself into complex beings, our universe witnessed the birth of Mozart… From the Big Bang to Mozart, astrophysicist Georges Meynet invites us to discover a very small part of this extraordinary saga. We will see that stars constitute the philosophers’ stones of the galaxies, cosmic cauldrons where the necessary elements for life are born. We will also learn that nature can be mischievous and full of paradoxes! Following on from Mozart & the Stars 2006, after an idea by Hubert Reeves and Karine Lethiec.
